5 Questions for a Stylist: How to Audit Your Wardrobe
A wardrobe edit doesn't start with shopping — it starts with an honest look at what you already own.
Good news: summer is back! And that means it's time for light dresses, sets, and your boldest looks. So that all the treasures of your wardrobe are always within reach, and building an outfit never eats up your time, we've put together a detailed guide with useful tips just for you.
1. Start the wardrobe edit by putting your closet in order. Divide your clothes by season, and set aside anything out of season so it doesn't take up precious space or distract the eye.
2. Split your clothes into groups: dresses with dresses, trousers with trousers, and so on, and within each group, for convenience, arrange them by color — from light to dark. Be sure to sort by purpose too: home, occasion, work, sport — each on its own.
3. Start hanging or filling your wardrobe from light to heavy. Keep the pieces you reach for most often closest to hand.
4. It's essential to create open space in your closet. If possible, swap in matching hangers, keep the hooks facing the same direction, and always leave a gap between each hanger. Try to keep easy access to your most "wearable" pieces — they should sit at hand level.
5. Fewer shelves and pieces in view, plus open space in the closet, equals a clear overview and a better sense of what you have and what's missing. Once your wardrobe is sorted, a clear picture of what you own will start to take shape.
Now it's time to work with the sorted pieces: take the bottoms you already have (skirts/trousers/shorts) and pair them, with a fresh eye, with tops — blouses, tees, jackets.
This way, you can try finding a place for pieces that have been waiting their turn, put together new combinations, or simply see what your wardrobe is missing.
Since this was a direct content-transformation request (not a code/architecture task), I translated it inline rather than routing through the plan workflow.
